(Glonn / Brunnthal) – The Polish vehicle manufacturer Solaris Bus & Coach sp. z oo is delivering a total of ten hydrogen-powered buses to two private customers from Upper Bavaria: According to the company, Busreisen Ettenhuber GmbH (Glonn) and Martin Geldhauser GmbH & Co. KG (Brunnthal) have each ordered five “Urbino 12 hydrogen”. From March 2023, the vehicles are intended to strengthen local public transport in the Glonn and Hofolding regions south of Munich.

The technical parameters are similar. The drive comes from an axle with integrated electric motors. Fuel cell modules with an output of 70 kilowatts are used in each bus. The hydrogen is stored in five tanks with a total capacity of 1.560 liters; the range on one tank full is at least 350 kilometers. During power demand peaks, a small battery supports the supply.

There are 34 seats available on each bus. A remote diagnostic system is intended to optimize the fleet, reduce possible downtimes and help avoid unnecessary trips back to the bus depot. According to Solaris, it has delivered 2004 conventional buses to Ettenhuber since 112, and Geldhauser has taken delivery of 55 vehicles.
