The CEO of the energy group Uniper SE, Andreas Schierenbeck, is calling on the federal government to accelerate the development of a concept for the hydrogen economy. The “National Hydrogen Strategy” should have been adopted last year, but the decision was postponed several times by the Federal Cabinet. In the “Handelsblatt” Schierenbeck complains that the political framework is still missing: “We are ready to go down the path to the hydrogen economy. “But this also requires clear signals from politicians,” the Uniper boss is quoted as saying. Germany has lost speed. “We have been discussing things for too long. The risk that we will be left behind is high.” Other countries are now ahead of Germany.
According to the article, government circles say that the strategy will be approved by the cabinet “as soon as possible” and a date in May is very likely.
Uniper SE was created by spinning off the water, coal and gas energy generation divisions from Eon SE.
