Enapter AG has a new electrolyzer “AEM Flex 120” brought on the market. According to the information, the device has up to 50 AEM stack modules and ensures “high responsiveness to fluctuating loads from renewable energies”. The production volume is around 53 kilograms of hydrogen per day with a purity of 99,999 percent. The electrolyzer closes the gap between the “AEM EL 4” (one kilogram per day) and the “AEM Multicore” (450 kilograms). The product was developed for the German building materials manufacturer ABC-Klinker. The company currently uses natural gas in its production ovens, which will now be gradually replaced by green hydrogen produced in-house. According to Enapter, there are already other interested parties from the building materials industry, but also from other sectors.

The Norwegian energy company Equinor ASA will supply green methanol AP Moller-Maersk deliver. The Danish shipping company wants to ensure the supply of its new methanol-capable feeder ship during the first months of operation from September 2023 and into the first half of 2024. In the long term, the feeder vessel will be powered by e-methanol from a plant in southern Denmark operated by European Energy, which is expected to be commissioned in the first half of 2024. The green methanol is bunkered in Rotterdam. The EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen recently named the ship “Lisa Maersk” in Copenhagen. It is the shipping company's first methanol-powered ship. The group has ordered 24 additional methanol ships, which are to be delivered between 2024 and 2027, and has concluded contracts for the production and delivery of the fuel worldwide.

Proton Motor Fuel Cell GmbH has a new one in Fürstenfeldbruck Fuel cell production facility presented. The infrastructure is currently being designed, including the assembly of the “stack robots” for the automated fuel cell manufacturing plant. According to plans, the factory is scheduled to go into operation at the end of 2024. The rental agreement for the 13.500 square meter property is for 15 years. However, it was already concluded last year by the British parent company Proton Motor Power Systems plc. Proton Motor Fuel Cell GmbH emerged in 1998 from Magnet Motor GmbH, which was founded four years earlier. It offers fuel cell and hybrid systems, from development and manufacturing to implementation of tailor-made solutions. The focus is on applications in the transportation sector, including drive systems for forklifts and buses, as well as emergency power supplies.

The Spanish transmission system operator Enagás SA has started the expression of interest process for the first axes of the Spanish Hydrogen backbone network started. This is intended to determine the energy sector's interest in developing the necessary infrastructure for the transport of renewable hydrogen. This process also includes a public consultation for ammonia, oxygen and CO2. From September 22nd to November 17th, a digital platform will be available on the Enagás corporate website where users can provide the necessary information to determine supply and demand and potential infrastructure needs. According to the information, there is already support from more than 110 players in the future market for renewable hydrogen. The results are scheduled to be presented in January 2024.

The vehicle manufacturer Volvo Group has signed a long-term supply agreement to purchase green steel from H2 Green Steel's new factory in Sweden. Production is scheduled to begin there at the end of 2025. Deliveries to the Volvo Group will begin in mid-2026. Volumes, delivery times or financial aspects were not mentioned. The commercial vehicle industry has actively driven the demand for green steel, says Henrik Henriksson, CEO of H2 Green Steel: “When a large player like the Volvo Group places a customer order, it is a clear sign of trust in our company and our product.” The steel from which is currently in Work under construction should be produced almost CO2-free using hydrogen instead of coke.
