(Bad Soden/Munich) – Siemens Energy and the Taunus-based manufacturer of industrial gases Messer Group GmbH have entered into a cooperation agreement with the aim of working together on green hydrogen projects for applications in industry and mobility. According to the information, Messer Ibérica has already submitted three green hydrogen projects in the Tarragona chemical complex to the Spanish government. The total electrolyzer output of these projects is 70 megawatts.

The companies want to increase cost efficiency by making the best possible use of all by-products in an integrated hub concept. In the Tarragona chemical park, Messer Ibérica already operates a pipeline network for oxygen in which this by-product of electrolysis is to be used. The chemical industry in Tarragona, one of Europe's largest chemical parks, wants to use green hydrogen to replace fossil fuels in its processes.

Messer was founded in 1898 and is today the world's largest family-run specialist for industrial, medical and specialty gases. The company operates in 30 European, Asian and South American countries.
