(Eat) - RWE Generation SE has expanded the board to include hydrogen. The new department will be headed by Sopna Sury (1) from February 2021, 46. She is responsible for the design and implementation of RWE's hydrogen strategy and will drive forward projects in the company's core markets. RWE Generation is a subsidiary of the RWE Group based in Essen. This includes all conventional electricity generation activities across countries.
Sopna Sury studied economics at the University of Witten/Herdecke and started her professional career at McKinsey. Since 2011, she has held various positions at the utility Eon SE, including being responsible for the renewable energy strategy. At Uniper SE she was later responsible for the sales of technical services and the investment management of gas infrastructure. Uniper is an Eon spin-off of the conventional energy generation divisions of water, coal and gas, as well as energy trading and energy storage and has been part of the Finnish energy group Fortum since March 2020. Sopna Sury was most recently head of strategy and regulation at RWE Renewables GmbH.
