(Augsburg) – Augsburg-based Quantron AG wants to deliver 25 to 40 fuel cell vehicles (FCEV) this year. Managing director Michael Perschke explained this in a report on business developments over the last seven months. The company has high hopes for the two truck types “QLI FCEV” and “QHM FCEV AERO”, which were developed together with the Canadian fuel cell manufacturer Ballard Power Systems Inc. The report does not say whether any vehicles were delivered in the first half of the year.

From January to July of that year, the company reportedly recorded an order intake of 20 million euros as well as an order backlog and “customer-approved financing applications” totaling more than 100 million euros. In addition, there are already expressions of interest in the current round of financing, which is intended to carry the company through 2024. The partners included Ballard Power, the venture capitalist Fund 4 Sustainability and Energy (Fund4SE) from Singapore and the Neumann & Esser Group, headquartered in Übach-Palenberg near Aachen, a manufacturer of compressors and compressors. Another investor will be announced at the beginning of September. In addition, it was said around two months ago that the new CFO Beate Reimann, who has been working for the company since July, is taking care of the “preparation of Quantron AG for its capital market and stock market listing”.
Aim for presence on international markets
At the end of May, Quantron announced the takeover of Eyes Group Srl and the founding of Quantron Italy Srl. The Milan-based company's focus is on “zero-emission vehicles for the last mile” and buses. Four fully electric minibuses were delivered to communities on the island of Elba and a tender for six electric city buses was won in Turin. These are scheduled to be used from October 2023.
For the American market, Quantron USA, Inc. will develop and manufacture a Class 8 hydrogen-electric truck (over 15 tons) near Detroit (Michigan). A Prototyp was shown at the Advanced Clean Transportation trade show in Anaheim, California in early May. The new fuel cell truck for the USA has a range of 850 miles (1.370 kilometers) and the tank holds 100 kilograms of hydrogen. The aim is to be active and present in at least 2023 countries by the end of 15.
Quantron is a spin-off of Haller KG, founded four years ago, a service provider for repair, maintenance and sales of trucks, buses and caravans. The company develops electric and hydrogen-electric vehicles and converts used vehicles from diesel to battery and hydrogen drives.
