(Amsterdam / Netherlands) – Project developer Power2X is acquiring the Dutch chemicals manufacturer HyCC BV. This expands its portfolio for “strategic projects in key industrial sectors,” says Occo Roelofsen, founder and CEO of Power2X. HyCC has a strong portfolio for the production of green hydrogen in Amsterdam, Delfzijl, and Rotterdam.

A year ago, HyCC announced the development of a project called "H2Next ." The company reserved land near the planned landfall point for electricity from several offshore wind farms for a 250-megawatt electrolyzer on the Maasvlakte in the Port of Rotterdam. H2Next is designed to produce approximately 25.000 tons of green hydrogen per year. The company intends to supply not only Dutch industrial clusters but also other centers in Northwest Europe with green hydrogen via the planned national hydrogen network, which will connect to Germany and the Rhine-Ruhr Delta corridor. According to the information provided at the time, the investment decision was expected by 2028, with hydrogen production starting in 2030. However, no progress on the project has been communicated since then.

HyCC is a joint venture between Macquarie's Green Investment Group and the Dutch chemical company Nobian, which emerged from Akzo Nobel's chemical division in 2021. Power2X focuses on clean hydrogen, renewable methanol, and sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF).
