(Berlin) - As part of the National Hydrogen Strategy, green hydrogen is intended to advance the decarbonization of the economy in Germany. The Environmental Technologies Export Initiative of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety focuses on the use of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies for off-grid power supply. “Projects in selected partner countries are intended to create the conditions for replacing diesel generators and thus substantially saving CO2 while at the same time improving the power supply,” it said in a statement.
The foreign chambers of commerce (AHK) in the Philippines, Thailand and Nigeria are now starting to analyze the political, technical and economic framework conditions for various areas of application: for “micro-grids” in rural areas in Nigeria, for power supply in hotels and... Hospitality industry on Thai islands or as a supplement to solar systems to power industry and commerce in the Philippines.
Basis for future collaborations
The AHK Chile has already prepared a potential analysis in cooperation with the Reiner Lemoine Institute and Chilean partners from business and politics. Discussions are currently taking place with the Chilean Ministry of Energy about how the cooperation that has begun can be continued with the involvement of German technology suppliers. The studies are intended to serve as a basis for cooperation between German companies and research institutions. Funding from the BMU's Environmental Technologies Export Initiative is available for projects in the above-mentioned and other countries.
In addition, the foreign chambers of commerce organize events in which local interested parties can exchange information and information about German technologies and German providers about the local markets and general conditions. Companies and research institutes interested in the events can contact the “Chambers for Greentech” project team at DIHK Service GmbH (see link below). Since 2016, the AHK has carried out 41 projects in 24 countries with the support of Chambers for Greentech
