(Slingerland, USA) – Plug Power Inc. will supply GenEco-PEM electrolyzer systems with a capacity of two gigawatts to Allied Biofuels FE LLC (ABF). The technology will be used at ABF's flagship plant in Uzbekistan for the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Electro Sustainable Aviation Fuel (eSAF), and Green Diesel.
The factory was announced back in June. The project is supported by the Uzbek government. "The conclusion of this supply agreement is an important milestone on the way" to the final investment decision. However, this is not expected until the fourth quarter of 2026.
5-gigawatt pipeline with Allied partners
With this order, Plug Power increases its contractually agreed electrolyzer capacity with its Allied partners to five gigawatts. A further agreement for three gigawatts was reached in January 2025 with Allied Green Ammonia Pty Ltd. (AGA) in Australia. There, the plants will produce green hydrogen, which will then be used to manufacture ammonia.
AGA is currently developing such a production facility in Australia's Northern Territory. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to use solar power to operate the electrolyzers and will install photovoltaic power plants with a capacity of 4,5 gigawatts. The plant on the Gove Peninsula is designed to produce approximately 2.700 tons of hydrogen per day. AGA reports growing demand from customers in Asia and Europe for ammonia, which is used in a range of sectors, including agriculture, energy storage, transportation, and industrial applications.
Plug Power currently has over 72.000 fuel cell systems and 275 refueling stations in operation. Hydrogen plants in the US states of Georgia, Tennessee, and Louisiana could produce 40 tons of the energy carrier daily.
