(Berlin) - H2 Mobility Deutschland GmbH & Co.KG announces the introduction of a “dynamic pricing model” for its hydrogen filling stations. Accordingly, the pump price depends on the origin of the hydrogen as well as the size and pressure level of a gas station.

Refueling at 700 bar (especially for cars) has cost 11,00 euros per kilogram (euros/kg) at the first stations where green hydrogen is provided since October. The price at filling stations where there are currently no delivery contracts for regeneratively produced hydrogen will remain unchanged and, depending on the location, at 13,85 to 15,25 euros. For commercial vehicles, green hydrogen costs 350 euros/kg at 9,50 bar stations, gray hydrogen that is not produced from renewable sources is in a price range of 12,85 to 13,75 euros.

This means price advantages are passed on to customers, says Lorenz Jung, Managing Director of H2 Mobility: “This is particularly possible with green hydrogen and at filling stations, where there are scaling effects.” The background for the different hydrogen prices for 700 and 350 bar is “clear Lower operating costs (compression, pre-cooling and maintenance) for the 350 bar technology”.
According to the respective manufacturers, the average consumption (combined highway, country road, city) for pure fuel cell cars is 0,76 kilograms per hundred kilometers for the Toyota “Mirai II” and 0,84 kilograms for the Hyundai “Nexo”. and 1,00 kilograms for the Hyundai “ix35”. The ranges with one tank of fuel are (also according to the manufacturer) around 650, 756 and 594 kilometers respectively.
Green hydrogen at two filling stations
Green hydrogen from H2 Mobility is currently only available in Berg bei Hof and Dresden. You are in a transition phase. “In order for our stations to be able to source green hydrogen, regional green hydrogen sources are required,” the company said. These are currently under construction and will supply the surrounding gas stations once they go into operation.
However, the EU's delegated act of the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II) is boosting the production and availability of renewable hydrogen in Germany. The company's goal is to only offer green hydrogen at all stations by 2028. H2 Mobility currently has more than 80 hydrogen fuel pumps across Germany. More are scheduled to open in Hamburg in October and in Haren/Emsland in November. There are a total of 105 stations in Germany and 254 across Europe.
The locations of the hydrogen filling stations H2 Mobility can be found on the company website. The European and worldwide locations are determined and updated regularly Ludwig Bölkow Foundation.
