(Berlin, Germany) – According to FNB Gas, interest from the hydrogen industry in transport capacities on the future hydrogen core network is exceeding the expectations of network operators. The companies initiated a reservation phase in mid-March. Currently, there are 32 inquiries. These inquiries request up to 2,9 gigawatts for injection and withdrawal capacities and 0,6 gigawatts for cluster transition transport (CÜT).

“The fact that demand is already so high so soon after the launch clearly demonstrates how important the core network is for the market ramp-up in Germany,” says Barbara Fischer, Managing Director of the association. She added that “a large proportion of the inquiries have already been answered positively with the submission of a reservation offer.” Further inquiries are still being reviewed. The earliest planned start of use is 2027.
