(Saskatoon, Canada) – Max Power Mining Corp. has begun drilling its first well in the search for natural hydrogen. The well is located in Lawson, near the township of Central Butte in southern Saskatchewan.

The drilling marks the start of a multi-hole program on Canada's largest permitted land area for the exploration and development of natural hydrogen. The work is being carried out by a 24-person team working in two 12-hour shifts using a powerful Stampede Drilling Inc. Tele-Double-Rig drill rig.
According to CEO Mansoor Jan, Max Power is the first team to drill for natural hydrogen in Canada. "This marks the beginning of a new chapter in domestic energy exploration," he said, focusing on naturally produced hydrogen beneath the Genesis Trend area. The mineral exploration company claims to hold drilling concessions for natural hydrogen in Saskatchewan covering 1,3 million acres (521.000 hectares).

Until a few years ago, it was considered inconceivable that this highly reactive element, known as "white" hydrogen, could occur in economically viable quantities near the Earth's surface. Later, scientists revised their opinion, stating that they had simply been looking in the wrong places.
Besides Max Power, Q Precious & Battery Metals Corp. and Quebec Innovative Materials Corp. (QIMC) are also active in Canada and, following initial geological surveys in the province of Nova Scotia, plan to launch a program to explore for natural hydrogen. The Canadian company Primary Hydrogen Corp. began the first phase of its exploration program in Dove Creek, Colorado, in May.
