(Vancouver / Sydney) – Loop Energy Inc, Canadian developer of fuel cell systems for the electrification of commercial vehicles, is expanding its sales market towards Australia. According to the company, it will supply modules to the Aluminum Revolutionary Chassis Company (ARCC), developer and manufacturer of “Australia’s first aluminum chassis for city buses”.

The T600 fuel cell module (60 kilowatts) from Loop Energy will be integrated into the 12,5 meter long “Viking Hydrolight” vehicle, which will be in operation by 2023. The chassis is primarily screwed. The low weight of the bus reduces fuel consumption and at the same time enables a larger passenger capacity than other electric buses on the market.

10.000 hydrogen-electric vehicles

ARCC is currently taking part in a trial led by the New South Wales state government with a hydrogen-electric bus. It is hoped that this will shed light on what role hydrogen technologies can play in the wider introduction of zero-emission buses.

The state governments of New South Wales and Queensland have committed to increasing green hydrogen production and jointly bringing over 10.000 hydrogen-electric vehicles to market. Loop Energy and ARCC want to present their first fuel cell bus at the “Australia Bus & Coach Expo” trade fair in Sydney in October 2022.
