Tokyo/Japan – In Japan, nine companies have joined forces to form a “Japan Hydrogen Association” (JH2A). As a cross-sector organization, the JH2A, which is expected to be founded in December after some preparations, aims to “promote the hydrogen industry and support initiatives for its development”. The goal, as it is said, is “to build a hydrogen-based society – also through partnerships with various interest groups, companies, governments and organizations.”
Cross-sector initiatives are intended to “establish a hydrogen value chain and accelerate and implement the necessary social developments.” Financial resources are also available for projects.
The car manufacturer Toyota Motor Corporation, the energy company Eneos Corporation, the gas company Iwatani Corporation, the heavy industry group Kawasaki Heavy Industries, the steel group Kobe Steel, the conglomerate Mitsui & Co., the Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, and the energy supplier Kansai Electric Power Company are involved (KEPCO) and the technology group Toshiba.
