Sheffield/Great Britain – A newly formed international consortium wants to develop 2 hydrogen-powered buses for Australia as part of a project called “H100OzBus”. The companies involved are ITM Power (Great Britain), Transit Systems, which has been part of the SeaLink Travel Group (Australia) since January, Ballard Power Systems (Canada), BOC Limited (Great Britain; part of the Linde Group) and Palisade Investment Partners (Australia).
In the first phase of the project, the companies want to focus on the infrastructure requirements for the use of fuel cell electric buses on public transport bus routes in ten hubs across Australia, which have already shown interest. In the second phase, the feasibility, scope and financing of the project are examined. ITM Power and BOC will provide the infrastructure for hydrogen production and refueling, Ballard Power Systems will provide the fuel cell system, Transit Systems will operate and maintain the vehicles and Palisade Investment Partners will assist in providing financing. The companies did not give a timetable.
