(Groningen / Netherlands) – Hyzon Motors Inc., a U.S. provider of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles, has launched heavy-duty fuel cell commercial vehicle leasing services for customers in the European Union. This should make it easier for fleet operators to economically implement the switch from diesel-powered to hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles in their fleet. According to the information, the new holistic leasing offer includes fuel, insurance services, service and maintenance for Hyzon tractors and vehicles.
Hyzon is pursuing TCO parity in Europe
The company said it wants to be among the first to supply European customers with fuel cell trucks and buses at a total cost of ownership (TCO) comparable to the cost of diesel-powered commercial vehicles. This should be achieved with the funding opportunities available in Europe and through cooperation “with several partners in the area of hydrogen infrastructure”.
As reported, Hyzon Motors Europe BV is already building hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles for the New Zealand company Hiringa Energy at a truck factory in Winschoten in the Dutch province of Groningen. The first batch of 1.500 pieces is scheduled to be shipped this year. Hyzon Motors Europe BV is a joint venture between Holthausen Clean Technology from Hoogezand and the American parent company Hyzon Motors.
In February, Hyzon Motors announced its merger with the Californian “Decarbonization Plus Acquisition Corporation” (DCRB) (we reported). The combined company will be listed on the US technology exchange Nasdaq. The transaction is still expected to close in the second quarter of 2021.
