(Berlin / Offenbach) – The Korean Hyundai Motor Company, represented by Hyundai Motor Deutschland GmbH, is investing in H2 Mobility, a company that builds and coordinates hydrogen infrastructure in Germany. According to the company, the cartel office has already given its approval and registration will take place shortly. Hyundai is the seventh shareholder alongside the founding members Total Energies, Shell, OMV, Linde, Air Liquide and Daimler.
Hyundai has been an associated partner of H2017 Mobility Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG since 2 and has been “actively involved in the development of a hydrogen infrastructure ever since”. “The establishment of a functioning and comprehensive network of hydrogen filling stations is essential to further successfully establish Hyundai fuel cell electric vehicles on the market,” said the vehicle manufacturer.
As reported, Hyundai has had the Switzerland in use. Hyundai plans to deliver 2025 units of the fuel cell truck to Europe by 1.600. In Munich, the Hyundai Motor Company and two bus companies have been testing the hydrogen-powered “Elec City Fuel Cell” bus for several weeks.
H2 Mobility has been building and operating the hydrogen filling station network in Germany since 2015. The company is currently responsible for 91 hydrogen filling stations, most of them in the metropolitan areas of Hamburg, Berlin, Rhine-Ruhr, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Munich as well as on the adjacent motorways. Another two gas stations are in the planning phase and ten are in the approval phase. Three are about to be put into operation. At the stations, fuel cell electric vehicles - cars and light commercial vehicles - can be filled with 700 bar, and medium-duty commercial vehicles can also be filled with 350 bar.
