(Berlin) - The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) is supporting further applicants as part of the “HyLand – Hydrogen Regions in Germany” initiative. Due to high demand and high-quality applications, the original number of funding recipients was increased from 20 to 30. There were 51 candidates for the “HyExperts” category, and 65 regions applied for funding as “HyStarters”.

The first HyLand networking meeting will take place in Husum today, September 14th. They introduce themselves to the winning regions. Interested parties can take part in the live stream and via chat from 12 p.m. (see link at the end of this article). Lecture starts at 13 p.m.

“HyExperts” regions

Fifteen “HyExperts” regions will each receive 400.000 euros from the National Innovation Program for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP2) for detailed concepts in order to develop concrete hydrogen project ideas. The winners in this category: Ostalbkreis (Baden-Württemberg), Reutlingen district (Baden-Württemberg), Havelland district (Brandenburg), state capital Kiel (Schleswig-Holstein), city of Hagen (North Rhine-Westphalia), Hanseatic city of Stralsund (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania), Wartburgkreis district (Thuringia) , state capital Mainz (Rhineland-Palatinate), Werra-Meißner district (Hesse), Düren district (North Rhine-Westphalia), city of Chemnitz (Saxony), Passau district (Bavaria), Lindau district (Bavaria), Neustadt an der Waldnaab district ( Bavaria) and the Helmstedt district (Lower Saxony).

HyLand – the second round

The “HyLand” competition was first announced in 2019 and is now entering the second round. The program is intended to motivate actors in all regions of Germany to initiate, plan and implement hydrogen-related concepts. The aim is to promote the most innovative and promising regional projects.

In the first phase of the HyLand program, 25 regions have already been funded and supported in developing a hydrogen economy in the three categories “HyStarter”, “HyExperts” and “HyPerformer”. Many regions have already submitted final reports and feasibility studies.
