(Porsgrunn, Norway / Atlanta, USA) – The Norwegian “Original Equipment Manufacturer” (OEM) HydrogenPro AS wants to produce alkaline high-pressure electrolyzers with an output of at least 839 megawatts for DG Fuels LLC. The company expects the contract to be signed in the first quarter of 2023. The first electrolyzers could probably be delivered in 2024. The financial volume of the order was not disclosed.

Delta orders around 1.500 million liters of SAF

HydrogenPro is a co-investor for a DG Fuels sustainable aviation fuel factory in Louisiana, USA. The latest agreement follows a contract between Delta Air Lines Inc. and DG Fuels. Accordingly, the company is expected to supply the airline with low-emission fuels (SAF, Sustainable Aviation Fuels) in the order of 385 million gallons (1.457 million liters).

DG Fuels is expected to begin production in late 2027 and plans to supply 55 million gallons (208 million liters) of SAF annually for seven years. The raw materials used include wood waste and corn stover, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 75 to 85 percent over the entire life cycle compared to conventional jet fuel, according to Delta.

New supply chains for better supply

“To achieve a sustainable future of travel, we must all work together across industries and encourage innovations like DG Fuel’s new low-emission SAF option,” said Pam Fletcher, Delta’s chief sustainability officer. New supply chains would help make sustainable fuel more available and affordable.

The current availability of SAF remains limited - the current supply is only enough to operate a fleet of Delta's size for a single day. Delta's commitment is estimated to represent more than a third of DG Fuels' total capacity at the Louisiana facility, according to HydrogenPro. “With this project, HydrogenPro will become the largest electrolyzer provider in the world, and we are now accelerating our presence in the US,” said Richard Espeseth, Interim CEO and Founder of HydrogenPro.
