(Herning / Herten) – The Danish Everfuel A/S and the transport company Vestische Straßenbahnen GmbH are jointly testing the “Everfiller” mobile hydrogen filling station developed by Everfuel. According to the information, the contract value is around 1,1 million euros.

The gas station on wheels is particularly suitable for refueling smaller vehicle fleets. The system would also be an option for vehicle operators who do not currently use large amounts of hydrogen, explains Everfuel. Experience has shown that many fleet operators would like to use hydrogen, but there is currently a lack of suitable refueling solutions, especially for beginners.

Five new buses with fuel cells

The first prototypes of the newly developed “Everfiller” presented in May 2022 are scheduled to be put into operation in the second half of 2023, with commercial use planned for 2024. If local demand increases, Everfuel could replace the mobile H2 filling station with a stationary HXNUMX filling station.

Vestische Straßenbahnen GmbH now operates around 260 local public transport buses in the Recklinghausen district, in the city of Bottrop and in the northern part of the city of Gelsenkirchen. In the second half of 2023, the first five fuel cell buses are to be gradually integrated into the bus fleet. The vehicles are then refueled at the depot in Herten.

The origin of the company name can be traced back to the Middle Ages. The “Vest” Recklinghausen was first mentioned in a document in 1335, according to the company. The term described a district court and the associated judicial district. In May 1901, the first electric tram line Recklinghausen-Herten-Wanne was launched, from which today's public transport operator developed.
