(Berlin, Germany) – H2 Mobility Deutschland GmbH, the hydrogen refueling station operator, plans to lower prices at 15 locations in Germany on October 1, 2026. The gross price per kilogram of hydrogen will be reduced by 12 to 16 percent. The price reduction will affect stations originally built primarily for refueling hydrogen-powered passenger cars. In recent years, these stations have been technically upgraded and can now also be used by buses and trucks.
The price reduction applies to Bayreuth, Düren, Düsseldorf-Oerschbachstraße, Erlangen, Frechen, Fürth, Herten, Cologne/Bonn Airport, Leverkusen, Munich, Saarbrücken, Sindelfingen, Stuttgart Airport, Weiterstadt and Wesseling.
Back in June, the company reduced hydrogen prices by around ten percent at its five stations in Mannheim, Heidelberg, Frankenthal, Ludwigshafen and Düsseldorf-Höherweg.
According to the information provided, at these locations, in addition to economies of scale, "the use of green hydrogen and the revenue opportunities from greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions trading in particular enabled the price reduction." The greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions trading system obliges companies in the transport sector to gradually reduce the CO2 emissions of their fuels. Those who continue to use fossil fuels must meet corresponding reduction targets or make financial compensation payments.
