Editorial guidelines

Hub for information
Every day – and digitally accelerated – there are a large number of reports about the topic of “Power to X”. Even highly interested people can only grasp these in a rudimentary way in their normal (working) everyday life. Our editorial focus includes three tasks:

  • Collect, process and classify information
  • Bringing together findings
  • Generate and pass on knowledge

... - i.e. what news agencies have always done for all areas of life and work - only specializing in hydrogen and Power-to-X.

revenue
We rely on income for our work. These are generated from two areas:

  • Advertisements on the homepage, in the newsletter or on other platforms
  • Sales from project orders, studies and research

Both areas work strictly separately from each other. This means that an advertised product or service does not automatically become news for us just because the customer places an ad. And a commissioned study or project is not passed on to the editorial team; instead, the confidentiality obligations agreed between the client and the contractor apply.

Separate content and advertising
Power-to-X takes great care to ensure that journalistic content and advertising remain separate. Advertisements, special forms with unusual placements or designs, and media partnerships are identified. Advertising may not be presented in a format that is usual for our journalistic articles. We do not engage in surreptitious advertising. No fees or benefits are requested or accepted from third parties for the publication of journalistically prepared information and contributions.

Media partnerships
Media partnerships are project-related and usually temporary agreements between media and an event organizer. The organizer advertises, for example, trade fairs, seminars or workshops on our homepage or in the newsletter in the form of a designed advertisement. In return, the editorial team receives access to information about the company network that usually develops during such events. It is therefore an exchange for mutual benefit. This usually ends at the end of the event.

Reader contributions and comments
Reader contributions and comments are reviewed before publication of Power-to-X; On the one hand, because we want constructive contributions from readers and would also like to stimulate discussions. On the other hand, so that Power-to-X cannot be held liable for any justiciable content. If comments do not correspond to the general positive view of humanity, for example if they are offensive, discriminatory, racist, misanthropic, inflammatory or are against religions and views on life, they will not be released. We also do not release unrelated communications, i.e. comments that are unrelated to the commented post. We also check whether it is spam or replies from bots, which is also not approved.

Language
We want our texts to be understood regardless of the reader's linguistic fluency. In addition, readers who only have a moderate command of German should be able to understand the contributions. We try to avoid anglicisms as long as there are meaningful German words for them. This cannot always be adhered to in individual cases, especially with technical terms that have been introduced worldwide.
Special feature of “color theory”: It is clear to us that hydrogen and Power-to-X derivatives are usually colorless. But a “color theory” that is understandable worldwide has been established and is based on the way such products are manufactured. For better differentiation, we use this color scale without putting the color attributes in quotation marks (example: green hydrogen).

Gendering
We think it is important that our contributions are understandable from a linguistic point of view and grammatically correct. Regardless of gender. In many media we often find constructs that are difficult to read and that reveal an effort to gender in order to appear “politically correct”. It is not uncommon for factual content to be lost or encrypted, so to speak. Therefore, in our texts we only use words that, according to conventional language understanding, can be easily pronounced (“read aloud”) and are understandable. We do not use gender asterisks, internal colons, underscores or capital Is. We try to use neutral terms. Our posts and words include all female, diverse and male readers.

They are our corrective
We research and write based on many years of journalistic experience. We always name our sources in a way that everyone can understand, usually with a link to them. We are able to disclose our sources and avoid sources that cannot be reliably traced. If the disclosure of sources is not possible in individual cases due to confidentiality agreements, but we still want to pass on information, we will specifically point this out. We do not impart “felt knowledge”.

If you would like to add your opinion to the information: Write a publicly visible comment on the post. You are also welcome to contact us discreetly directly by email. We would like to expressly encourage you to do this - especially if we actually make a technical error. We will then correct this immediately.
