(Aix-Les-Bains / France) – GE Grid Solutions is to supply three T380 155 kilovolt gas-insulated substations (GIS) for the world's largest planned green hydrogen production plant to date in Saudi Arabia. The system is manufactured at Grid Solutions' site in Aix-Les-Bains, France.

The company is responsible for the design, manufacture, delivery and supervision of the installation and commissioning of the facilities that will be built in the “Oxagon” area of the planned Neom Art City in northwest Saudi Arabia. The design is intended to ensure uninterrupted operation of electrolysis with wind and photovoltaic systems.

GE's client is the project developer Larsen & Toubro. The Indian company also received the contract for the planning, procurement and construction (EPC) of a photovoltaic system with an output of 2,2 gigawatts, a wind turbine with an output of 1,65 gigawatts and a battery storage system with a capacity of 400 megawatt hours. Engineers are also building 306 kilometers of 380-kilovolt overhead power lines and underground cables for the kingdom's power grid.

The Neom Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC), a joint venture between ACWA Power, Neom and Air Products, aims to produce up to 2026 tons of green hydrogen per day from the end of 600.
