(Vancouver / Aachen) – The Canadian First Hydrogen Corp. has founded a subsidiary. NetzeroH2 Inc. is to develop, produce and introduce hydrogen filling stations, which are designed in collaboration with Aachen-based FEV Consulting GmbH, to the market. First Hydrogen also sees this as a service for buyers of its vehicles and wants to accelerate the introduction of hydrogen as a main fuel source. First Hydrogen announced its collaboration with FEV to develop and produce a prototype of a liquid hydrogen filling station in November.

Light commercial vehicle with fuel cells planned

First Hydrogen Corp. is a company based in Vancouver, Canada and London, United Kingdom, specializing in zero-emission vehicles and supercritical carbon dioxide extraction systems. As part of two agreements with AVL Powertrain UK Ltd. and Ballard Power Systems Inc., the company is planning and developing a fuel cell-powered light commercial vehicle with a range of over 500 kilometers.

First Hydrogen will also offer fuel cell-powered supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) CO2 extraction systems, allowing users to operate the systems in remote locations where electrical power grids are unavailable or the power supply is unstable. Such closed systems, which work at an extraction pressure of up to 1.000 bar, are used, for example for degreasing and decaffeination, but also for the production of flavors and seasonings for the food industry.

According to the Fraunhofer IVV, raw materials and products treated in this way are considered solvent-free after extraction, “which means that this process can also be used for organic products”.
