(Chadstone/Australia) – Enegix Energy Pte Ltd wants to build a project called “Base One” to produce green hydrogen in the Brazilian state of Ceará. The annual yield is forecast at 600 million kilograms. The electricity for electrolysis will be provided by wind and solar power plants with an installed capacity of 3,4 gigawatts. According to the company, the investments amount to 5,4 billion dollars (4,5 billion euros). According to Enegix, a corresponding memorandum of understanding was signed with the state's governor, Camilo Santana, in February.
Expansion to 100 gigawatts possible
The infrastructure of the targeted location in northeastern Brazil offers “direct access to all important international markets”. The deep-sea port of Pecém has access to the quantities of water required for electrolysis. For this purpose, 500 hectares of land were developed.
The great potential of renewable energies in Ceará enables the expansion of Base One to over 100 gigawatts. Thousands of jobs would be created during the construction phase. Hundreds of full-time employees will be required for subsequent operations, explains Wesley Cooke, Enegix founder and managing director.
Keynote presentation on March 4th
The project is expected to take three to four years to build. Enegix has signed an agreement with an unnamed international engineering firm and a technical consultant to conduct a feasibility study. Enegix is currently looking for investors.
Enegix Energy is registered in Singapore and Australia and is currently relocating its headquarters to Switzerland. The company will present the project on its website as a live stream keynote on Thursday, March 4, 2021 (11.00:12.00 a.m. GMT, XNUMX:XNUMX CET).
