(Berlin/Saerbeck) – Enapter AG will receive 9,36 million euros from the Ministry of Economics, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia for the development of machines for the mass production of AEM electrolysers. According to the information, the company will receive grants of 7,3 million euros in the years 2021 to 2023, the rest in the years 2024 to 2025.
This would enable the necessary automation elements to be developed, tested and implemented. Production is scheduled for Enapter Campus in the Saerbeck climate community (we reported).

The Münster University of Applied Sciences will accompany the ELEFACT project and “contribute scientific know-how, especially in the area of electrochemistry”. The new manufacturing facility not only enables the mass production of the AEM electrolyzer components, but also the automated assembly and testing of the finished electrolyzer modules, according to the company. Construction work on the Enapter campus is scheduled to begin in the fall, and a research center is also planned there.

In May, Enapter announced that the “AEM Multicore” electrolyzer would come onto the market next year. The company combines 440 mass-produced core modules (AEM stacks) into a complete system. These modules connected in series could produce around 450 kilograms of hydrogen per day. “Our systems adapt flexibly to the different requirements and fluctuation ranges of renewable energy sources such as wind or sun,” explains Enapter board member Sebastian-Justus Schmidt.
