(Redmond, New York / USA) – The US technology company Clean Energy Holdings LLC (CEH) has acquired photovoltaic modules with an output of 380 megawatts from Philadelphia Solar USA Inc. These will be manufactured in a new US factory that Philadelphia Solar plans to complete this year.

The products “Made in America” are bifacial 540-watt modules of the “Phenex half-cell 10BB” type. CEH wants to build a 1.000 megawatt solar park on an approximately 250 hectare desert site near the city of Sylvester, Texas, whose output can be expanded to up to one gigawatt. The yield from the project called “Clear Fork” is used to produce green hydrogen. The electrolysis has a capacity of around 33 tons per day. The gas is liquefied and then used as fuel for mobility and space travel.

Construction will begin “in the summer” of this year and commissioning is expected at the end of 2024. According to the company's assessment, the project is “one of the largest solar and electrolyzer projects in the USA to date”.

Renewable Energy Alliance

Clean Energy Holdings focuses on developing, owning and operating renewable energy and low-carbon technology assets. Since the beginning of last year, CEH has brought together a number of companies into a “Renewable Energy and Technology Alliance Platform”.

Most recently, the US photovoltaic company Translucent Energy, Inc. joined the alliance in mid-February. Its main areas of activity are manufacturing and integration of PV products, development, engineering services, procurement and construction (EPC) and operation and maintenance (O&M). They also include: Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company (HSB, part of German reinsurer Munich RE), Bair Energy LLC, Chart Industries Inc., Equix Inc., RockeTruck Inc., Coast 2 Coast Logistics LLC and ING Americas.

Wind farm for hydrogen production

The “Clear Fork” project is the second that CEH is launching in the United States. In March 2021, the company had already initiated the development of a 200 megawatt wind farm in Colorado called “Clear Creek”, which will later be expanded to 600 megawatts of installed capacity.

The turbines will be located at the top of the mountain, while the hydrogen production facility will be located near the community of Georgetown. Around 35 tons of hydrogen per day are to be produced here and experimentally stored in a former mine. 83 percent of residents supported the project, explained CEH.
