(Berlin) - The Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV) has opened the second round of funding for the purchase of climate-friendly commercial vehicles and supplemented it with funding for special vehicles and infrastructure. Subsidies are available for the purchase of new alternative, climate-friendly commercial vehicles in EC vehicle classes N1, N2 and N3 as well as commercial vehicles in EC vehicle classes N2 and N3 that have been converted to alternative drives. The funding amounts to 80 percent of the additional investment expenditure compared to a conventional diesel vehicle.

Costs amounting to 80 percent of the eligible project-related total expenses can be claimed for the refueling and charging infrastructure required to operate the climate-friendly commercial vehicles. To prepare feasibility studies on the possible uses of climate-friendly commercial vehicles and the corresponding infrastructure, 50 percent of eligible project-related expenses can be funded.

The federal government is making 1,6 billion euros available

So far, 320 projects worth around 200 million euros have been approved. The projects submitted included 2.000 battery, fuel cell and hybrid-electric commercial vehicles, the associated operational charging infrastructure was applied for 153 times and around 30 applications dealt with feasibility studies. The federal government is making a total of 2024 billion euros available by 1,6 to support the purchase of climate-friendly commercial vehicles. In addition, around seven billion euros will be available for the construction (or expansion) of refueling and charging infrastructure by 2025.
