(Chicago / Turin) – The Italian design studio Pininfarina SpA has received “Green Good Sustainability Design Awards 2023” in Chicago for three products it designed. The hydrogen-powered SUV “NamX HUV” was honored in the “Green Transportation” category.

The “Hydrogen Unit Vehicle” (HUV) from the French company NamX (“New Automotive and Mobility Exploration”) has removable and replaceable hydrogen cartridges to supplement a permanently installed hydrogen tank. Because hydrogen filling stations are not yet very widespread, this system allows users to exchange empty capsules for full ones at a station in the future - like reserve canisters. A total range of 800 kilometers is possible, it was said at the launch prototypes in May 2022.

The development took place in collaboration with the French design studio De Lussac. Thomas de Lussac launched the NamX brand together with Faouri Annajah. The vehicle should be available from 2026. The 100 hp version costs 65.000 euros as part of a reservation that is already possible, while the 300 hp version costs 95.000 euros.
The Green Good Design Sustainability Awards recognize individuals, companies, organizations, governments and institutions that contribute to a more sustainable world through their outstanding products, services, ideas and concepts. The prize is organized by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design in collaboration with the European Center for Architecture, Art, Design, and Urban Studies.
