(Berlin) - The International Power-to-X Hub (PtX Hub) Berlin will in future be supported by two federal ministries. The platform was founded by the Federal Environment Ministry (BMU) at the end of 2019 and has since been operated by the Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). Now the Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWi) will also take part.
The aim is to promote the production and use of climate-neutral base materials and fuels based on green hydrogen, especially in developing and emerging countries: “The establishment of international networks and the interdisciplinary transfer of knowledge via the PtX Hub is intended to promote sustainable hydrogen and PtX -help the global economy achieve a breakthrough,” it said in a statement.
Network for decision makers
The platform offers decision-makers an interdisciplinary network for further training, knowledge exchange and the establishment of important industry contacts. The BMU is planning a PtX competence center in the Lausitz energy region, which is scheduled to open in 2021. The discussion about sustainability requirements for the production and use of PtX is being promoted there.
The involvement of the BMWi was announced during the most recent meeting of the “Climate Protection Action Alliance” last week. The action alliance is the central forum for discussing climate protection policy positions with the federal government. The association, consisting of almost 200 lobbyists, associations and clubs from ADAC to ZVEH as well as municipalities and socially relevant groups, has been meeting every six months in the spring and autumn for a plenary session since 2015.
