Initially, 95 tons per year would be delivered to AIS. When completed, the capacity will be 190 tons. The facility is scheduled to begin operations in July. According to the company, “India’s first green hydrogen plant for the float glass industry” will pave the way “for sustainability in glass production”. Our new factory aims to meet 94 percent of its electricity needs through green and sustainable energy sources,” says Rupinder Shelly, COO Architectural Glass at AIS. The company not only invests in solar energy, but also in generating electricity from flue gases before they are discharged through the chimney.
Glass for the automotive industry and architecture
AIS is building the greenfield plant in Soniyana in the Chittorgarh district in the Indian state of Rajasthan to produce high-quality float glass for the automotive and architectural sectors in collaboration with its partner AGC Glass Europe. According to Siddharth Jain, Managing Director at Inox, the system would save 1.250 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. A cumulative total of around 25.000 tonnes could be avoided over the term of the contract.
Inox Air Products claims to be the largest manufacturer of industrial and medical gases in India. The company, which now has 1.400 employees nationwide, was founded in 1963 as a family business as Industrial Oxygen Company Ltd. founded. In 1999, Air Products & Chemicals Inc. of the USA acquired a 50 percent stake, resulting in Inox Air Products. According to its own assessment, AIS is India's “leading integrated glass and window solutions company”. The portfolio includes, among other things, products for the automotive and architectural segments.
