(Lehigh Valley, Pa. / Columbus, Ind.) – US diesel and gas engine manufacturer Cummins Inc. and industrial gases manufacturer Air Products and Chemicals Inc. want to jointly accelerate the market launch of hydrogen-powered trucks in America, Europe and Asia. This includes Air Products planning to convert its global fleet of approximately 2.000 trucks to zero-emission fuel cell vehicles. Cummins will produce the powertrains for Air Products to integrate into the heavy-duty vehicles of select OEM partners.

The companies expect the demonstration phase to begin in 2022. Additionally, Cummins and Air Products will work to improve renewable hydrogen infrastructure.

Cummins has a broad portfolio of hydrogen technologies, including PEM electrolyzer and fuel cell solutions. To date, more than 2.000 fuel cells and 600 electrolysers have been put into operation worldwide. The company's product range includes diesel, natural gas, electric and hybrid drives as well as drive-related components. Cummins earned around $2020 billion on sales of $1,8 billion in 19,8.

According to its own information, Air Products is the world's largest hydrogen producer. The company generated revenue of $2020 billion in fiscal 8,9 with operations in 50 countries.
