(Riyad / Saudi Arabia) – The US supplier of industrial gases Air Products has commissioned the Chinese Envision Energy Group to supply wind turbines with an output of 1,67 gigawatts. As part of the contract, 6,5 megawatt systems will be installed and will be operational by 2026. The Saudi Neom Green Hydrogen Company, in which Air Products has a stake, wants to use the green electricity to produce green hydrogen.

The location of hydrogen production is the “Oxagon” area of ​​the Saudi model region Neom, which is designated as an industrial area. Once the factory is completed, Air Liquide will take over the entire daily output of up to 600 tons.

The Envision Group develops, sells and operates, among other things, wind turbines, storage systems and green hydrogen solutions. The company also owns the Formula E team “Envision Racing”.

In mid-May, the Neom Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) completed the Financing of the hydrogen plant announced. 23 local, regional and international banks and investment firms are involved. The company wants to invest $8,4 billion (7,8 billion euros) in what it says is “the world’s largest plant for the production of green hydrogen”. The construction had already been announced in the summer of 2020 - at the time there was talk of costs amounting to seven billion dollars.
