(Berlin) - The Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport has announced the second round of funding in the “HyPerformer” category of the “HyLand” competition. The aim is to support concepts with a focus on the mobility sector and thus build a regional hydrogen economy, according to the tender documents.
A total of 45 million euros is available for the purchase of hydrogen and fuel cell technology along the entire value chain. The upper limit for individual regions is 15 million euros. The applicants must
- contribute to building a hydrogen region through the coordination and support of individual projects that can be found in the regions
- demonstrate the technological maturity and economic viability of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in the transport sector
- achieve significant environmental benefits through the implementation of the projects
- make a significant contribution to the goals of the National Innovation Program for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP II)
- provide a low-threshold information and network offering to interested actors in the respective region and
- Communicate hydrogen projects and technologies to the public.
The winners of the competition will then be supported in the practical implementation. Those involved submit individual funding applications for their investment projects. Competition entries can be submitted between September 30, 2022 and January 31, 2023.
“HyLand – Hydrogen Regions in Germany” is a competition initiated by the BMDV in 2019 that is intended to motivate interested parties in all regions of Germany to plan and implement hydrogen-related projects. The aim is to promote “the most innovative and promising regional concepts”.
In the first phase of the HyLand program, there were 2021 candidates for the “HyExperts” category by September 51, and 65 regions applied for funding as “HyStarters”. In the three categories “HyStarter”, “HyExperts” and “HyPerformer” 25 regions were supported in building a hydrogen economy. In the next round, another 30 regions were selected.
